Petzl Charlet SARKEN Recall

Petzl has issued a recall for any Sarken crampons (any binding system, black or orange colour, with metallic parts). Purchased between 1 November 2003 and 31 August 2007.

The front points of Sarken crampons are susceptible to premature wear out following heavy use. This means cracking of the metal forefoot near the front point(s), followed by possible breakage if usage continues. The manufacturer felt that this left a lifespan for the crampons which was not up to their required standards.

Contact your regional distributor (Spelean Pty Ltd for Australia / Spelean (NZ) Ltd for New Zealand) and a replacement product or a refund will be given to consumers who return the recalled product.
