AsymTM
The outside of the foot is very different than the inside of the foot. For example, the outside ankle bone is lower and farther back than the inside one, and the inside arch is huge compared to a smaller arch found further back on the outside of the foot. To make a show asymmetrical implies a willing sacrifice of fashion for function and proper fit.

C4
The world's highest performance climbing rubber. Hard for edging without sacrificing one iota of friction.

CowduraTM
A strong breathable synthetic suede that doesn't stretch like leather. Shoe made from Cowdura will adjust to your foot, but will stretch very little.

Down-turned toe
Walking and running shoes rock up at the toe for a comfortable stride. A down turned toe climbing shoe rocks the other way for superior toe power.

Dual pull-on loops
Two pull-on loops positioned in the correct spot at the heel allow the wearer to hold the heel cup open and easily pull the shoe on at the same time.

Side exit heel seam
A seam that has been rerouted away from the sensitive Achilles area to the side of the upper, minimizing hot spots and blisters.

Split slingshot
This is extremely effective for higher boots where the high ankle collar can make it difficult to point your toe. The split works like a hinge allowing you to point your foot much more easily.

PU
Polyurethane Midsole material well known for its high durability.

Compression Molded EVA
The most durable type of EVA foam. This is a midsole cushioning material known for light weight and superior shock absorption.

Fat Tire TreadTM
Unique tread pattern based on mountain bike technology. Confuses rangers patrolling trails that are off limits to mountain bikers.

Graded Midsoles
The midsole thickness increases with the size of the shoe so everyone gets the same performance from the shoe, regardless of size.

Gusseted Tongue
Tongue that is fully sewn into the shoe on all sides to prevent dirt and debris from entering the shoe at lace level.

Internal Self Draining Midsole
A unique drainage system built into the midsole of the shoe. This uses channels in the midsole to actually pump water out of the shoe as you walk.

Stealth S1
Ideal Stealth Rubber for all-terrain shoes. Compared with C4, S1 is slightly softer and much more damped, giving a more comfortable walk or run.

S-Curve Lacing
We curved and lengthened a full length lacing system resulting in the best fitting and most adjustable lacing system.

Split Grain Leather
The most supple type of leather; also the easiest to work with. It comes from the inside layer of the hide.

Toe Rand
Rubber that wraps up the toe and sides of the shoe for protection. In climbing it also adds friction, for better performance.

Padded Split Tongue
A two part tongue where each side piece is attached to the side of the shoe opening. As the VelcroÔ straps are tightened, the padded pieces slide past each other, allowing a very comfortable and adjustable fit.

Water Sport Buckle Closure
The most secure closure system for water. It won't get waterlogged like laces or come loose like Velcro, and can withstand the force of even the roughest currents.

Unlined leather upper
This is the most comfortable material against the skin. Expect shoes with unlined leather to stretch between a half a size and a whole size.

Lined Leather upper
These shoes will not stretch as much as an unlined shoe. Expect them to stretch about a half a size.
