Blue Water Batch Indicator Colours

The following are the batch indicator colours covering the period of manufacture in Australia. All of the rope should have a marker tape in the centre giving the country of manufacture and conformance to appropriate standards when applicable (11mm diameter and above).

There have been three Blue Water (BW) static rope constructions BW II, BW II+ and BW II++. For BW II and BWI I+ both the core and sheath were made from polyamide fibres. For BW II++ the core is made from polyamide fibres and the sheath from polyester fibres.

BWII had 21 core bundles in 11mm diameter The core bundles had a very gentle twist and half had a left hand twist and half had a right hand twist. The BW II+ and BW II++ each have 15 core bundles with a much tighter twist. The manufacture of BW II+ commenced in Australia 1989 and concluded in Oct 2005, with the introduction of BW II++.
